About LawFuze
What is LawFuze?
LawFuze is an AI co-worker built for UK solicitors regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). It triages new matters, drafts the first version of documents, pulls UK precedent, and keeps an append-only audit trail — while the supervising solicitor stays in control of every judgment call.
Who is LawFuze for?
Primary audience: UK solicitors regulated by the SRA. Secondary: barristers (Bar Standards Board regulated) and in-house counsel. Not for: US firms, unsupervised AI use, or consumer-facing self-service legal advice.
When does LawFuze launch publicly?
1 September 2026. Until then we're in a closed five-firm beta with free access. Public launch activates the Computational Analysis Licence from The National Archives (UK case-law retrieval), Stripe payments, and the full client portal.
Pricing & access
How much does LawFuze cost?
Free during the closed five-firm UK solicitor beta until 1 September 2026. Paid solicitor tiers (Solo / Firm / Premium) launch alongside Stripe at public launch on that date. Beta firms keep a 30 percent founding-firm discount locked for 12 months after launch.
Is there a free trial after launch?
Every new annual subscription carries a 14-day cancellation right under UK distance-selling rules. We don't currently plan a separate free trial — the beta is the trial.
How do I request beta access?
Apply at lawfuze.com/request-beta. We have five firm slots open and prioritise solicitors who can give us regular product feedback. SRA roll number required at sign-up.
Security, confidentiality and data residency
Where is my data stored?
Microsoft Azure UK South. Databases, document storage and backups all live in the UK South region. No US egress, no cross-border data transfers. Daily encrypted backups to Azure Blob with 30-day retention.
Does LawFuze use my matters to train any AI model?
No. We set the anthropic-no-retention header on every Claude API call so Anthropic does not retain prompt or response content. Embeddings used for retrieval are stored in our own Weaviate index, not retained by the embedding provider. The LawFuze source license also explicitly prohibits training-use of our code or output.
What about confidentiality under the SRA Code?
SRA Rule 6.3 confidentiality is enforced at the prompt layer. Every prompt and response is logged to the matter it belongs to, scoped to that matter only. Cross-matter access requires admin or compliance-officer designation plus mandatory MFA. Per-matter confidentiality walls are enforced at the database layer, not in application code.
Is LawFuze ICO-registered?
Yes. LawFuze AI Systems Limited is the UK GDPR controller, ICO registration ZC147676 (registered 14 May 2026, expires 13 May 2027). The Data Protection Officer is dpo@lawfuze.com.
AI behaviour and hallucinations
What stops the AI from inventing case law?
Three layers. First, the AI is prompted to refuse rather than guess when retrieval returns no supporting source — that's the refusal-first architecture. Second, every output is cited back to its source paragraph in the retrieved corpus; uncited claims surface a warning in the UI. Third, citations are post-verified against the retrieved set before the response renders, so hallucinated case names are caught and stripped before the solicitor sees them.
What if the AI gets it wrong anyway?
Every AI output is reviewable. Flagged outputs route automatically to the supervisor-review queue where a qualified solicitor approves, rewrites, rejects or escalates. The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 Section 80 (which replaced UK GDPR Article 22) requires meaningful human involvement in significant decisions; LawFuze's supervisor-review queue is the implementation pathway. See also Ayinde v Haringey [2025] EWHC 1383 (Admin), the named UK wasted-costs order where the court referred legal representatives to the SRA and BSB for relying on fabricated AI-generated case citations.
Does the supervising solicitor sign off on every output?
Solicitor sign-off is available on every output. Outputs that are flagged (manually, by automatic risk rules, or by output type — e.g. settlement recommendations always flag) route automatically to the supervisor-review queue. Outputs that aren't flagged can be reviewed in-line by the responsible solicitor at the moment of use; they're never sent to a client without that solicitor's review.
How LawFuze compares
How is LawFuze different from generic AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude)?
Generic AI tools run on vendor terms-of-service that reserve broad data re-use rights and have no professional accountability framework. LawFuze pins the AI to the SRA Code itself — confidentiality at the prompt layer (SRA 6.3), refusal when sources don't support an answer (SRA 7.1 competence), and supervised end-to-end with audit-row stamping (SRA 4.1). The solicitor's professional code binds the AI; the vendor's TOS doesn't bind the firm.
How is LawFuze different from US legal AI tools (Harvey, CoCounsel)?
US-incorporated tools route at least some matter data through US sub-processors and US legal jurisdiction. LawFuze is a UK limited company (Companies House 16800372), hosted entirely in Azure UK South, with a daily reconciliation against The National Archives Find Case Law (UK source of truth for case law, not unofficial mirrors). Pricing model is built for UK firms: per-fee-earner Solo / Firm / Premium tiers, not the per-seat enterprise-pilot model that excludes everyone below AmLaw 100.
How is LawFuze different from contract-AI tools (Spellbook, Robin, Definely)?
Contract-AI tools are deep on one workflow — clause-by-clause analysis inside Word. LawFuze covers contracts plus matter management, chat-first research, time + billing, compliance reporting, and the supervisor-review queue — all in one record per matter, with one audit trail. The breadth means you don't have to stitch together a contract-AI + matter-management + research tool stack.
Roles and onboarding
Who in my firm gets which access?
Five firm-facing access tiers: Admin (firm runner), Solicitor (qualified, does case work), Staff (paralegals + support), Client (read-only portal), Guest (read-only invitee). Plus four optional SRA compliance designations layered on top: COLP, COFA, Barrister, CILEX Legal Executive. Designations trigger mandatory multi-factor authentication and expand the user's JWT permissions claim.
Can I trial LawFuze without a firm?
The closed beta is firm-scoped: we need an SRA-authorised firm with a verified SRA number. Solo practitioners are welcome — sign up and assign yourself as Admin + Solicitor + COLP + COFA (the standard solo configuration).
